Privacy
Local by default. Shared by choice.
TempCanvas works without accounts or cloud document storage. Ordinary drawing stays in your browser. Starting a live presentation (Beta) sends your encrypted canvas to viewers through a Cloudflare relay.
Local canvas storage
Your current canvas is stored in your browser using IndexedDB so it can be restored after a refresh or accidental close. Canvas content is not sent to a TempCanvas server during ordinary drawing. Clearing browser storage can remove the local copy.
Exports and pasted images
PNG exports are generated in your browser, and TempCanvas does not receive a copy. Images pasted onto the canvas are stored as part of the local canvas data. If you start a presentation, those images are included in the shared canvas.
Starting a live presentation
Starting a presentation requires your confirmation. Automatic admission is on by default: anyone with your 8-character access code, invitation link, or QR code can watch. Turn it off to compare pairing codes and approve viewers individually. Share invitations only with people you want to admit.
The entire canvas is shared
A presentation sends all canvas objects, pasted images, and in-progress drawing previews, including content outside your current screen. Viewers follow your center and zoom by default; allowing free viewing changes navigation. It does not change which canvas content viewers receive. Viewers may retain received content or take screenshots.
Encryption and the Cloudflare relay
Canvas content is encrypted in your browser before it is sent through Cloudflare to admitted viewers. Cloudflare acts as a content relay: encrypted canvas data passes through its infrastructure. The relay does not persist canvas content or receive the canvas decryption key. Temporary room metadata and public pairing keys are processed to connect participants. Network infrastructure can process IP addresses, connection times, and traffic volume.
Temporary sessions
A room supports up to 100 viewers and expires after two hours or when ended. Keep the presenter page open during a session. The service does not provide a replay or a saved cloud document.
Usage analytics
TempCanvas uses Google Analytics to understand visits and basic actions, such as opening the canvas, making a first edit, downloading a PNG, copying an image, starting a presentation, or joining a live view. Presentation events also measure sharing settings, connection outcomes, audience size, and viewing duration. These events include the interface language, tool category, and export scope. Drawing content, typed canvas text, pasted images, filenames, invitation codes, room IDs, and keys are not included in these analytics events. Google Analytics also processes standard visit and device information.
