FAQ
TempCanvas frequently asked questions
Short answers about drawing and presenting with TempCanvas.
Is TempCanvas free?
Yes. TempCanvas is free to use and does not require an account.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Open the page and start drawing. Live presenters and viewers do not need accounts either.
Where is my drawing saved?
Your current drawing is saved locally in your browser using IndexedDB for recovery. Ordinary drawing is not sent to the presentation relay. Download a PNG for a copy independent of browser storage; clearing that storage can remove your local canvas.
How can I share my whiteboard live?
Choose Present to start a live presentation (Beta), confirm sharing the entire canvas, then share the 8-character access code, invitation link, or QR code. Up to 100 read-only viewers can watch for up to two hours. Keep the presenter page open.
Can anyone with the invitation join?
Automatic admission is on by default, so anyone with the access code or invitation can watch. Turn it off to compare pairing codes and approve each viewer manually.
Can viewers edit or look around the canvas?
Only the presenter can draw and edit. Viewers follow the presenter’s center and zoom by default. The presenter can enable Allow free viewing so viewers can pan and zoom independently.
Does a presentation share only the visible part of my canvas?
No. It sends the entire canvas, including off-screen objects and pasted images. Following the presenter or allowing free viewing changes navigation, not access to the received content. Viewers may retain content or take screenshots.
Does live sharing use a server?
Yes. Canvas content is encrypted in the browser and passes through a Cloudflare content relay to admitted viewers. The relay does not persist the canvas or receive its decryption key. Temporary room metadata and public pairing keys are processed to connect participants; no replay or saved cloud document is provided.
Can I download my drawing?
Yes. Use Download PNG to create an image with a white background.
Does TempCanvas work with a stylus or Apple Pencil?
TempCanvas uses browser Pointer Events and supports mouse, touch, and compatible stylus input.
