TempCanvas

TempCanvas live presentation Beta

A live whiteboard to explain as you draw

Sketch a lesson, work through a diagram, or walk someone through an idea. TempCanvas lets one presenter draw while an audience watches the whiteboard live in their browsers, without creating accounts.

Live presentation (Beta) is available on tempcanvas.com. Open the whiteboard, then choose Live Present.

How the live whiteboard works

TempCanvas live presentation is a browser whiteboard with one editor and read-only viewers. The presenter shares the entire canvas using an 8-character access code, an invite link, or a QR code generated locally. A session supports up to 100 viewers and ends automatically after 2 hours. No login is required for either role.

For moments that are easier to draw

Classroom explanations

Work through an equation or label a diagram while students follow on their own screens. Share the invitation once, then keep writing. Students watch without creating accounts or changing the board.

A quick visual explanation

Draw a process, compare two options, or build an idea step by step. Viewers follow your canvas position and zoom by default, so they can see the part you are explaining.

Design and project reviews

Paste an image, mark up a layout, or sketch a system during a review. One person controls the drawing while the group discusses it through its usual meeting or conversation channel.

Start a live presentation in three steps

  1. Open the whiteboard and choose Live Present

Draw first or begin with a blank canvas. Open Live Present, check the notice about sharing the entire canvas, and confirm that you want to share. Automatic admission is on by default; turn it off if you want to approve each viewer.

  2. Share the code, invite link or QR code

Start presenting, then copy the invite link, share the 8-character access code, or let viewers scan the QR code. Viewers can also open the viewing page and enter the code. In manual mode, compare the six-digit pairing code before allowing a viewer to join.

  3. Close the dialog and keep drawing

Closing the presentation dialog lets you continue using the whiteboard. Keep the presenter’s browser tab open. Use the presentation controls to pause sharing, stop new viewers from joining, or end the session.

Keep the audience with you

Follow your explanation

Viewers follow the presenter’s canvas center and zoom by default. Enable Allow free viewing when you want viewers to pan and zoom independently; viewers can return to following the presenter.

Choose how viewers enter

Automatic admission lets anyone with the code or invitation watch. Turn it off to review requests individually. Lock new joins when the audience is complete, or end the presentation to invalidate the access code.

Privacy during a live presentation

Encrypted in the browsers, forwarded by Cloudflare

The presenter’s browser encrypts canvas content, and viewers’ browsers decrypt it. Cloudflare forwards the encrypted content; this is a relayed connection, rather than a peer-to-peer connection or a signaling-only service. The presentation service does not persist the canvas or receive the plaintext decryption key.

Your invitation controls access

Share the access code, invite link and QR code only with the people you want to watch. The QR code is generated locally. Automatic admission is enabled by default, so switch to manual approval when you need to review who joins.

Site analytics are still used

TempCanvas uses Google Analytics 4 for standard visit measurement and product actions, including presentation starts, joins, setting changes, duration and errors. Product event payloads do not include canvas content, access codes or decryption keys. Page URLs sent in the analytics configuration exclude query strings and invitation fragments. Live presentation is not an analytics-free mode.

Live whiteboard questions

Do presenters or viewers need to log in?

No. Both the presenter and viewers can use TempCanvas live presentation in a browser without an account, registration or login.

How do I join a live whiteboard?

Open the presenter’s invite link, scan their QR code, or enter their 8-character access code on the viewing page. Automatic admission is enabled by default. If the presenter chooses manual approval, wait for them to approve your request.

Can everyone draw on the whiteboard?

No. Only the presenter edits the canvas. Viewers have read-only access. If the presenter allows free viewing, viewers can pan and zoom independently without changing the drawing.

How many people can watch, and how long does a session last?

A presentation supports up to 100 viewers and ends automatically after 2 hours. The presenter can end it earlier. Keep the presenter’s browser tab open while sharing.

Can I close the presentation dialog while drawing?

Yes. Close the dialog and continue drawing on the whiteboard. Keep the browser tab open; closing the dialog is different from ending the presentation.

Does presenting share only the visible part of the canvas?

No. Presenting shares the entire canvas, including off-screen content. Viewers follow your canvas center and zoom by default, and can explore independently if you enable free viewing.

Is the live whiteboard recorded or stored in the cloud?

The presentation service does not persist the canvas, create a saved cloud document, or offer recording and replay. Viewers can still take screenshots or retain content. Export a PNG yourself if you need a lasting copy.

Is live sharing peer to peer?

No. Cloudflare forwards encrypted canvas content between browsers. Encryption and decryption happen in the browsers, and the presentation service does not receive the plaintext decryption key.
